Col 3:13 – “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
There is no such thing as a perfect family. Even the happiest families that seem to be oh-so-perfect also face a lot of problems. A family consists of individuals who are all naturally flawed, who have different characteristics and personalities which can spark up a feud at any time.
We received a command to bear with each other and to forgive one another. It is because, inside a circle of family, everyone matters.
Forgiveness also comes along to a circle of family to serve as a reset button whenever things go a whole lot of crazy.
Col 3:19 – “Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”
In the story of creation, a woman came from the man’s rib. She was made to help the man fulfill his duties and responsibilities.
Therefore, husbands, this verse is a gentle reminder to all of you that your wife is a part of you that you shall never hurt in whatever way — may it be physically, emotionally, or verbally. Your wife is supposed to be showered with love and affection because from the moment you said your vows, you are one in flesh and heart.
“A woman came from the man’s rib, not on his feet to be walked on, not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal, under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved.”
