Most people enjoy the excitement of a new season, but very few enjoy the transition that leads to it. Transition can be uncomfortable because it often brings uncertainty, change, and questions we cannot immediately answer. Yet throughout Scripture, we see that God frequently uses transition as a pathway to transformation.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)
Before Israel entered the Promised Land, they spent years in the wilderness. Before David became king, he spent time tending sheep and running from Saul. Before the disciples stepped into ministry, they spent years learning, growing, and being stretched under Jesus’ leadership. In every case, God was working in the transition.
One of the greatest dangers during a season of change is becoming so focused on what we’ve lost that we fail to recognize what God is building. We can become attached to former seasons, familiar routines, and comfortable environments. While there is nothing wrong with appreciating the past, God never intends for us to live there. He calls us forward into His purposes.
Transitions are often where faith grows the most. When everything is familiar, it is easy to rely on our own understanding. But when we don’t have all the answers, we learn to trust God more deeply. We discover that His promises remain true even when our circumstances are changing.
Perhaps you’re in a transition right now. Maybe you’re facing a career change, a move, a new ministry opportunity, a relationship challenge, or simply a season where life feels uncertain. Be encouraged. God is not absent in your transition. In fact, He is often most active there.
Instead of asking, “Why is this happening?” consider asking, “Lord, what are You teaching me in this season?” The answer may reveal opportunities, growth, and blessings you could not see before.
Remember, transition is not a sign that God has forgotten you. It may be evidence that He is preparing you for something greater. Trust Him with the process. Stay faithful, stay prayerful, and keep moving forward.
The same God who guided you in previous seasons will guide you in this one. Don’t miss Him in the transition. He may be doing His greatest work yet.
