After seeing the Holy Spirit activate in countless ways in other believers’ lives, you want this in your own life. You want to know how to receive this power. There are three basic ways to activate this power in your own life.
Repentance
The first thing you need to do is take some time to reflect on your life. There are several questions you’ll want to ask yourself. They include:
- Do you hear the Holy Spirit’s voice? If so, do you follow it?
- Are you speaking words that are corrupt, bitter, angry, or evil? Or are you gossipping?
- Are you lying to the Holy Spirit?
- Do you know the Holy Spirit’s promises?
When any of these things are true in your life, you need to repent. Doing so will remove the old and make way for the new, so you can see the Holy Spirit activate in your life. When He does so, He’ll consume every part of your life, which is why repentance is so necessary.
Thirst for More From God
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) – John 7:37-39
To have the Holy Spirit activate, you must thirst for God’s instruction. This thirst is essential because He doesn’t want just to be a part of you. He wants to consume you.
Ask in Faith
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. – James 4:2
While God doesn’t want to hold any good gift back from you, the Holy Spirit is a gentleman. Therefore you must ask for Him to enter and fill you. He’ll gladly do so once He’s sure you understand the purpose of the gift is to glorify His name.
Prepare for an Outpouring
Now that you understand how the Holy Spirit activates, it’s time to prepare your heart for a fresh outpouring. Once you’re filled with the Holy Spirit, He’ll turn the wastelands in your life into beautifully carved landscapes. Are you ready to receive a fresh outpouring in your life?
